HERITAGE
2012: 365 DAYS OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE NOW!
About
the Author: Deloris Holt
HERITAGE 2012 is the fourth in a series that
presents African American history in the unique format of an appointment
book/day planner, Debris Holt, a retired elementary school teacher
and author from Southern California designed and wrote the personal
calendar to educate as well as help busy people organize their
time and activities. The spiral bound HERITAGE lies flat for easy
writing and features daily history briefs plus historical photographs
with accompanying in-depth stories.
While teaching the alphabet to kindergarteners, Mrs. Holt, an
avid history buff, would add “A” is for Ira Aldridge, “B” is for
Benjamin Banneker, C’ is George Washington Carver etc. in addition
to the traditional apple, ball, cat etc. The lessons turned into
her first book, THE A B C’s OF BLACK HISTORY (Ward Ritchie Press,
1971). She is the author of GOOD FRIENDS COME IN MANY SHAPES (Children’s
Press, 1973), a fantasy about getting along with those who look
different from you. Mrs. Holt also created the BLACK HISTORY PLAYING
CARD DECK AND BIOGRAPHIES (U. S. GAMES, 1978)
A survivor of both cancer and a heart attack, Mrs. Holt believes
that God has blessed her by allowing her to continue her goal
of making Americans, particularly African Americans more aware
of the African American Experience.
"After
spending some 40 odd years with Afrikan American history appointment
books, the Heritage Appointment Book, is the best, most thorough,
quality-oriented work I have ever experienced on the market. It
is the only one I have used in my summer youth class, Black History
4 Young People. It is the standard for such books."

"Your
Heritage Appointment Book has a wealth of information that
can be used by teachers as planning tools. In addition,
teachers may meet teacher performance expectations by using
this information to create engaging lessons that access students'
